Mission 5: Detox Your Space
In Mission 4: Choose Smart Diet Actions you decided on specific ways you would eat less and eat differently.
While that resolve is still fresh on your mind, let’s clean up your environment.
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to:
· Take the actions that serve you, and
· Avoid actions that undermine you.
A little strategic space detoxing now can save you a lot of angst in moments of distraction.
And if you live with others, you need to find ways to detox your space without incurring the wrath of the rest of the household.
So let’s do that now.

I pretty much did this a while back. Now, it’s just a matter of going to the store hungry and buying junk food. With my plan in place to plan meals, I think I can avoid doing any more junk shopping. What I do have, I have mostly self-control to avoid. By changing my mindset, I think I can take a balanced approach.
So on Friday I detoxed my work desk both in the office and at home. i have also detoxed the car and handbag. I have cleared all the living room and kitchen worktops of negative trigger foods. So I still have the fridges, freezers and pantry to do over the course of the rest of the week, but wanted to check in that those areas I have listed above have at least been done already this week.
Mission accomplished
We’re pretty good in this area, but always room for improvement. I vow to not buy beer and wine just to have it on hand……too easy to consume when it’s available.
This mission is done. Last week I inadvertently detoxed by eating all the junk in the pantry/freezer. So I didn’t have anything to toss this week! But I didn’t buy foods on my avoid list this week so that’s a small win.

The following is our groups decisions: Toss expired food out of your fridge and pantry/cupboard. Check any other areas in your home that you might stash food toss if old — bring the good back to your kitchen and put away.
You should get rid of all of the following: Ice cream, all salty snacks, all pastries, frozen desserts, chocolate, sugary drinks try to limit the amount you drink, white bread, high-fat dairy: milk, cheese, ; alcohol for your health eliminate altogether, Salt is bad for your heart, retains water not good for your body.
The following is what we eat: Peppermint; Frosted Flakes, Captain Crunch & Cinnamon Toast Crunch Greek yoghurt, frozen vegetables, potatoes, etc. are low in sodium [usually 1%]
Unsalted popcorn is downright terrible
High-calorie frozen and packaged meals personal choice
Canned food is high in sodium; drain all juice out; rinse with water to eliminate some of the purities
Vitamins are good but check your doctor to see which one is good for you or do you need vitamins.
Freezer items are put in freezer bags including the original box.
Exercising up and down stairs every day!

Canned soups especially Campbell’s soups [high salt content gives the soup a two year shelf life]!
Drinking a glass of red wine per day is good for keeping your bodies arteries cleaned out. It must be red wine. I had clogged arteries and it took two years but the red wine cleaned out the arteries.
Remember, everyone has different body chemistry! What works for one person may not work for another person. Your doctor knows your body chemistry and which foods are healthy for you.

I cleaned out my fridge and I will try to buy just healthy food, this week I didn´t buy any snack…I´ve spent my time cleaning my kitchen and it looks great.Ready for next step!
Put the chocolate away-out of sight! It helps. I have a huge craving, but putting it out of sight helps!
Same here, I don’t drink alcohol, so that was easy. Although we do stock kids luch foods, bars, chips etc, but I don’t eat them. I need them for the kids, and honestly don’t crave them. So I guess that’s something I have to keep.
Nothing on the list above is in our house apart from home made wine so this was a simple 1 to do. Just got to not stop at shops when out on the road and buy cakes, crisps etc.
Wine put away.

pastries, salty snacks, substitute wheat bread for white bread, frozen foods do have high sodium [even though frozen foods is better for you] Mrs. Callendar is high in sodium [read the ingredients before purchasing], substitute Arizona Sweet Tea in place of pop/sugary drinks, clean out your refrigerator and cupboards of expired food. purchase large amounts of food from Sam’s Club for the winter/bulk food.

The higher the sodium the more weight you will loose? No. Salt is bad for your heart, retains water not good for your body.

This mission was harder to put into action for me… but… I’ve detoxed my space. I’ll miss my nibbles but I don’t want to store those calories on me!
This was actually an easy task since we don’t keep a lot or any junk food in the house. My downfall was always going to the store and immediately eating the junk food. I’ll have to hide my car keys I guess!
I buy healthy foods, mostly gluten free. I know you still have to careful with gluten free because of hidden calories. I intend to watch more carefully.
I can’t use Xmas as an excuse any more. The mini cake and heart shaped chocolates have just got to go.The mini snack packets for the family are in a bag with a plastic snap closer – to put that mental barrier between it and me. The limes (for slicing into sparkling mineral water- $1 each…robbery, but they make it spoecial!)are ready for use, and the grapes and apples are in prime position in the fridge. I can get used to this.
