Mission 33: Avoid Diet Traps
Your eating habits will have gone through major change over the course of the missions so far.
In particular, you’ve worked on:
– Everyday diet actions
– Detoxing your space
– Becoming (slightly) acquainted with calories
– Strategic splurging
– Overeating
– Your Recipe Binder
– Your pantry
– Weekly meal planning
– Your kitchen equipment
– Keeping a food diary
– Eating more vegetable and legumes
– Dining out
– Eating a good breakfast
– Drinking more water.
That’s a lot of fantastic action taken toward your weight loss!
In this mission we’re going to protect these excellent efforts against some of the common diet traps that can ensnare the unwary.
First, we’ll learn how to tell a sneaky diet trap from genuinely helpful information. Then we’ll look at a bunch of common weight loss traps and see how to outsmart them.

Our group responses
are: For a low-fat diet: per
WebMD article we read:
Choose lean cuts of meat.
Don’t fry foods. Instead, you can bake, broil, grill, roast, or
boil.
Choose low-fat or fat-free dairy foods. Include them in your daily
carbohydrate count.
Use low-fat vegetable cooking spray or cholesterol-lowering
margarine that has stanols or sterols.
Pick liquid vegetable oils instead of animal fat.
Select lower-fat margarines, gravies, and salad dressings. Check
the carbohydrate count on condiments and
dressings.
We suggest the following: When
Eating:
Fill
the salt shaker with a mixture of herbs and spices.
Slowly
cut back on the amount of salt added at the table until you don’t use any.
Choose fruits and vegetables
instead of salty snacks like chips, fries, and pork rinds.
1st check the nutritional label for calories etc
2nd check the nutritional
label for calories – it may not be healthy
My group has the following to say on Avoiding Diet Traps:
People with diabetes should keep a food diary/some doctors make it mandatory.
Dining Out: eat at healthy/organic restaurants.
Breakfast is the best meal of the day. It will help you set your mood for the day.
Thank you for the information. I do avoid the No fat traps as I always check for calories, fat, protein etc… I am very careful not to get trapped in those new diets , I check everything closely now that I have lost all those pounds.I am not going to let those pounds in again. 33 Pounds lost as of today, 3 more pounds to go:)
