Day 30: Spread Your Weight-Loss Awesomeness Across Your Life | 30-Day Weight Loss-athon

Day 30: Spread Your Weight-Loss Awesomeness Across Your Life | 30-Day Weight Loss-athon

It’s time for the final day of the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon. What a journey it’s been!

All tasks in the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon are adapted from my 52 Weight Loss Missions program.

Read the steps first, then take 10 minutes to think about and complete them. Ready?

What You Need:

  • A good look at what you’ve achieved over the past month.

Step 1

As you lose weight, you’ll enjoy a greater sense of self-mastery.

You’ll think, Hey I did that!

Then you’ll start to think, I wonder what else can I do..?

You’ll see yourself as capable of impressive things, and it’s natural that you’ll want to apply this new-found confidence to other areas of life.

This is fantastic, because it creates an upward spiral in your life – every success gives you greater confidence and motivation to cross-fertilize everything else.

And that means you can end up with further weight-loss success too.

Now that you know what you’re capable of, let’s raise the standard elsewhere in your life, too.

So as our first step, let’s decide to spread the confidence around.

Step 2

So… where else can you expect more of yourself?

For example, you may feel drawn to one or more of these:

  • No longer reading magazines that put people down
  • Dressing better every day
  • Making more effort with your grooming or appearance
  • Focusing on your posture – standing, sitting and walking tall
  • Speaking up in meetings
  • Asking for what you want – graciously but clearly
  • Giving up junk entertainment – TV shows, books and movies that don’t enrich your life
  • Giving up gossip
  • Being more positive
  • Showing more kindness
  • Learning public speaking
  • Reading inspiring books and biographies
  • Learning a new skill
  • Seeking a promotion at work
  • Decluttering your home
  • Organizing your home
  • Organizing your life and goals
  • Designing a new life
  • Organizing your business.

Make a list of ways in which you’d like to raise your standards across your life. Only add things to your list if they inspire you.

Step 3

Now, ask yourself what you have to do in order to hold yourself accountable and put these changes into practice. What actions do you need to complete?

Bonus Step For 52 Weight Loss Missions Members

Review the examples of actions for each suggestion in Step 2 from Mission 52: Raise Your Standards.

Step 4

Whatever areas you’ve chosen for higher standards in your life, make sure you’ve identified the actions you’ll complete in order to put them into practice.

Then, either start them now, or assign them to a specific date in your diary. And do them.

Because, remember: in all areas of your life, including weight loss, it’s not what you know – it’s what you do!

In this program you’ve applied that principle and taken action in 30 important ways. Congratulations! You are amazing.

Now, let taking action be your mantra in the rest of your life.

What are you waiting for? Go be amazing in whole new ways. :-)

Check in!

And you’re done!

  • I’m going to print these out and try to incorporate the action that I think will help me the most into my everyday life and so on. I have actually completed all of the activities over the month, which has been wonderful and taught me a lot. I’ve also made 2 new Australian friends 🙂 Thank you Michelle! I bought 52 organizing missions last year and I think I’m up to #3, so I’ll get started on that again 🙂 Thanks once again, good luck to everyone and regards, Irene aka Calendula.

  • I’m excited to keep going with weight-loss I’ve lost 12 of the 30lbs I want to lose. So I’m keeping it up. Plus adding decluttering which I feel I’m in a constant state of

  • I was getting down about the fact that whenever I faithfully stay committed to exercise, I gain weight. This has been true this month as well. As I came around the corner from my walk…1/2 block from home…a neighbor showed up. He said, “look at me, I’m getting in such good shape!” He’s been going at it for 5 years and he looks great. He ran a 10 k in January. I guess I shouldn’t look at what has happened in the past month, but can I still be faithful in making the changes over the coming 6 months, 8 months, year? One step at a time…

  • These past 30 days have been encouraging and rewarding…lost only 2 kilo but have toned up and will continue to lose 🙂

Last April you offered the 30 day decluttering missions. I wasn’t able to focus on that at the time (we were too focused on disaster relief after the tsunami, etc here in March) so I put the emails in a folder and will now use them to get organized in that area! Yay!

  • I can’t believe we are already at the end. I have lost another 5 pounds this month and waiting for my evaluation tomorrow morning at the gym to see how much more inches I have lost. I have about 10 pounds left to my goal of 145 pounds by June 7th for my daughter’s graduation.
I am usually a positive person so my goal will be to go shopping after the weight loss to find clothes that will show my weight loss and show the right curves, and then to try to put make-up on regularly. Putting on make-up is a big deal for me cause I never know if I have put too much or too little, but people say I look good with it on. I will do my best and ask my friend from church to hold me accountable for it:)
Thank you Michelle for this program:)

  • My good friend Kay said it BEST. This has been a very good and challenging month and I’ll KEEP IT UP! Thank you so much. Also loved the LIST of Number 2 for today’s news. VERY wise and good and worthy “ommissions or commissions”!

  • Thank you for offering this challenge! I have read, and checked in, every day, and am off to a great start, thanks to you 🙂 I have also started doing the 5 min. per day organizing challenge, and I am clearing my physical space at the same time as my body. It feels good!

  • thanks everyone for the last month of support. I am amazed at what I now WANT to do, de clutter is next on the list, as well as the last few kilos I want to lose, and the new clothes I am going to buy.

  • I’ve got a long way to go, but I CAN do it! Thank you

  • Thank you. I feel more positive and re energised.

  • sorry I am a day late, big day yesterday with a family funeral.
sorry to see this come to an end but hopefully it has started us all in the right direction. I have written in my diary what I want to do next. de clutter my home, and my mind. The mind part means taking time to meditate even if its 10 minute one each day. I also want to re organise my home, think more positive thoughts using cognitive thinking so when I think something that is not positive, be aware and change my thought. I also want to finish a lot of UFO, s being unfinished projects. I need to write in my diary daily as it keeps me on track as I love crossing things off at the end of the day. since I have so much to do an its over whelming, I will make a pact with my diary, to do just 15 minutes every single day that I am home, for even part of the day. that way I know it will get done as I will do more. nice chatting to all you ladies and the positive feedback had been great.

  • Hello to everyone: This is the final day of you 30 Day Weight Loss athon. Write in your journal the changes you have made since you started this program. Continue to make changes: exercising; eating healthy; improving your appearance; keep setting goals that you can ascertain and continued Good Luck to all of you. Michele is the Queen of organizing your life and weight loss. Make a commitment to yourself to continue to ascertain the healthy you – remember, your body has to last you a lifetime. Congratulations! You did it!

  • Did anyone else notice how few people made it through the 30 days? Congratulations to everyone who stuck with the commitment they made with themselves, I know I’m proud of how far I’ve come in the last 30 days. This was such a great starting point! Today’s post is full of great suggestions. I will be working on simplifying my life, so I feel less frazzled and more accomplished. Good Luck to everyone as they move forward, keep up the good work!

  • Thank-you very much for all the helpful comments you’ve given me this month it’s really pointed me in the right direction now. The main area that needs doing is.
decluttering which I’ve been doing bit by bit and thanks for the helpful advice to help declutter your house (life). When I finish decluttering I’m going to get my house more organized and my life also. I think they both run beside each other you fix one and it will fix the other to as you feel more on top of things that used to be a burden in your life. I’m also planning a new life but that will depend on when we sell our property. Thank-you once again if I ever need helpful advice again I know who to turn to.

  • Thank you Michelle. I am going to feel lost not checking in here each day now. It just became a habit to me. As promised yesterday I have started fresh today and followed the plan to the letter even increasing my exercise to an hour on the cross trainer and eating lots of healthy food. My next goal is to declutter this house and get it into some kind of order because at the moment I am just not happy with it. I will be following your 52 declutter missions to do this so you cant get rid of me that easily yet 🙂

  • I’m excited to write my list of my new standards 🙂 this was an awesome challenge. I really appreciate that it made you understand yourself in order to accomplish your goals. thank you Michele Connolly – Get Organized Wizard. 🙂

  • ive really enjoyed the weight loss-athon. my goals were to develop healthier habits for a healthier me and ive definitely picked up some wonderful tips and made some significant changes thanks to the program. and I look forward to taking all this new found knowledge and tips, and applying it to other aspects of life where necessary. I’m really happy with the progress ive made so thanks a bunch michele! 🙂

  • The scales and I are still not friends, however, in this past month, I am stronger, faster, leaner and meaner. I get what I want, and don’t fret much on the things I cannot change. I have learned the tools that will I will continue to carry with me, to make me a more confidant individual. Thanks for the encouragement!

  • Coincidentally, throughout this month I found myself doing quite of few things on the list, being positive, enlarging my reading scope, de-cluttering (home and mind) and working on the no gossip thing. Thanks so much for this wonderful month, great wake up call for me. Will miss you.

  • There are several suggestions I can use. Be more positive, get rid of more clutter, dress better every day whether I go anywhere or not, and I am already taking classes for my new degree. Thanks Michelle!

  • This has been a great month and I can already tell a difference in my attitude and the way I carry myself. And I have decided that my house needs to lose as much weight as I do….have already started packing things up to take to the Salvation Army. I am working on one room at a time and since we have been focused on dieting the first room has been my kitchen/dining room area. Good luck to everyone!

  • Wow, it just dawned on me 30 days are over! Where does the time go? The challenge now is to keep the momentum going forward. Positivity is my new challenge. Thanks for all of the great tips and advice.

  • Like you said, it’s not what I know but what I do. I definitely want to work on the de-cluttering of my house. Unfortunately this won’t happen until June and I have a break from my work and class I’m taking. But It will be on my calendar in June. Thank you for all the positive ideas on how to recharge my life by controlling my diet and exercise.

  • That was a fast 30 days! I have loved doing this each day. The accountability was a real motivator. Starting tomorrow I am going to do the 30 days again and keep myself on track. I am going to add the 30 day declutter also! Bring it on May!

  • I will be focusing on the missions that weren’t easy for me–mastering them one at a time. Then, my focus will be decluttering my home, with a similar”one area at a time” approach. This month has been so helpful and inspiring!

  • I have enjoyed the accountability and words of wisdom you gave this month. There is still a lot to chew on. I plan on continuing to tweak my healthy body goals.
I am encouraged to step out and do more than holding back or putting off.

  • Decluttering and reading more. The 1st is on schedule for Memorial Day weekend, and reading is something I hope to add in a little at a time as it’s not really something I love. Thanks for all the tips you’ve shared this month. It’s been good for me.

  • I have really enjoyed the past month, very eye opening. Now to strive at maintaing this information I have learned, and setting higher standards for myself, is my ultimate goal. Thank you!

  • well. decluttering my ROOM is the next month’s step for me! 😀 Thanks for all the helpful tips 🙂

  • I like the idea of giving up junk t.v. and spreading more kindness! Thank you for all the great tips this month!

  • Still really hoping I win one of the 52 weight loss missions 😉 as I think I need the continued push…

  • It certianly has been a great challenge. It’s helped me put a lot of things into perspective.

  • I love the way you think, Michelle! I am definitely changed after this month. Thank you! God bless you!

  • I’m already starting to declutter things I don’t need from my home!

  • Take action! My Mantra.. You can do it! NOW! 🙂
Thanks Michelle! GOOD LIVING EVERYBODY! 🙂

  • This has been an amazing month. Thank you for challenging us!

  • Always room for improvement. That sure was a short month.

  • thanks for the past month’s emails. I will miss them.

  • Thanks I love the challenge given and hope to do my very best!

  • Thanks for everything!

  • This has all definitely helped me! Thank you!

  • Thanks so much, I am working at it everyday!

  • THANK-you! <3

  • I have learned the importance of posture since going thru Physical Therapy late last year. As I have increased my exercise I have found that my muscles are starting to pull me into a better posture automatically. I am going with that! Listening to my body is an important aspect of health.

  • My next goal now that I’ve got eating under control is to get the house under control! I guess you could say I’m a bulimic house cleaner. I’m great at getting it clean and tidy but keeping it that way? So, that’s my new goal. For a number of reasons I need to have my new strategies in place before Christmas. Having people over regularly will help as I almost always clean up for visitors. I enjoy entertaining so it will be a huge emotional positive for me to be able to do so without embarrassment. I also want to instill the positive routines I will develop in my children so they don’t struggle as I have done. I now consciously eat so I vow to consciously clean and tidy. What a difference some a small thing can make!

  • I cannot believe how fast the month flew by! There are still several areas that I need to work on, so I’m putting them on my goals list to use when I plan each month. On Step 2’s list, I already had thought about some of these over the last month, and now I want to start putting those into practice as well. I have to remember that I cannot change everything including my weight over night, so I must start with small changes which leads to a healtier life change especially my attitude. Thank you, Michele, for this Weight Loss-athon, and thank you, online friends, for your kind words and support!

  • HAHA! I have pulled out and updated my Get organized planners and diaries and last week did it for three days. This week the goal is four. I am finding that sometimes with the list I get over ambitious and end up defeating the entire purpose. So now I’m going to move a little more slowly and gear up to start getting more organized each week until it becomes a habit. My old clothes are also fitting again, so I have a much more varied wardrobe than a month ago. Things are looking up!

  • It has been a gr8 month of shared ideas, comments. For me three ‘action’ steps will be the focus for my personal rejuvenation – Asking for what you want – graciously but clearly Being and remaining more positive, Learning a new skill. Thanks for sharing your thoughts/expertise on this topic with us! The Best is Yet to Come.

  • Thank you for these 30 days, and the last tips are the best, and things to keep working on. Great tips and motivating action!

  • Sure wish I could afford the 52 week one…Thanks Michelle for the 30 days. They have helped me so much.

  • It´s all simple by it´s own but together it´s a big deal.
Thanks for giving us the chance to see this big deal step by step.

  • Thank you all! Learned a lot and enjoyed it. And now? Taking more action in all areas!

  • I have a long way to reach my weight goals and I´ve learned that the best thing is going step by step. And I can do it! Thanks Michelle and all the people in this program.:-)).

  • I love this website. I did the 52 missions last year and am still cleaning out my home and my life. Thanks Michelle x.
