Day 2: Move Your Body And Reframe The Sweat | 30-Day Weight Loss-athon
02
Apr
Welcome to Day 2 of the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon! Today we get physical.
In future tasks we’ll tackle a heap of barriers to exercise – some organizational, some psychological, some completely bogus – but today we’ll just pick ourselves up and get going.
I suggest you read through the steps first, then take 10 minutes to move it, move it.
We only have 10 minutes, so you need to move fast, act quickly and stop over-thinking. Just throw yourself in. Ready?
What You Need:
- Comfortable clothes
- Comfortable shoes
- An umbrella if it’s raining
- Warm clothes if it’s cold
- An iPod with some motivating tunes cued up (optional).
Note: Check The (Regular-Sized) Small Print
Step 1
We’re going to go for a walk today.
You don’t have to walk fast. You don’t have to walk for long. You don’t have to find a scenic path. You just have to keep your legs moving and your arms swinging for 10 minutes. Around the block or up and down your street is fine (don’t forget to wave to Mr Grumplestein there on his porch).
If you’d prefer an alternative, choose one of these:
- Use a piece of exercise equipment you have at home, such as an exercise bike, skipping rope or mini trampoline, for 10 minutes
- Do a little circuit: 1 minute of running on the spot, 1 minute of walking on the spot, 1 minute of jumping jacks, repeat 3 times and finish with 20 sit-ups
- Put on a high-energy playlist and dance your heart out for 10 minutes.
If you feel resistance welling up, go read one of your post-its from Day 1.
Step 2
Accept that you will probably sweat.
I know some people hate the idea of sweating, so let’s reframe it from icky to positive.
Instead of thinking of sweat as something gross, uncomfortable or unpleasant, think of it as melting fat. When you feel yourself starting to perspire, visualize that pesky poundage liquefying and oozing out of you. How awesome! Just what you want.
Step 3
Tell your family you’ll be back in 10, grab your keys or close the door to the room you’ll be in, and off you go.
Check in!
And you’re done! How does that feel?

See you tomorrow…
I walked around the block with my Dotson. We both were winded, but we really enjoyed it.
I ran 1 1/2 miles tonight. It felt wonderful to get out and clear my head some and take a little break from my 3 wonderful children to focus on my own health!
Didn’t go for a walk but exercised at lunch hour today at work and then did an exercise video tonight, hope that counts as moving cause my body aches…
I definately got my 10 minutes in today. I actually walked 10 minutes at lunch time, made myself take the stairs at work (I work on second floor) and Monday nights is my country line dancing so I danced for 1 1/2 hours. Sure hope I melted a lot of fat today.
Even though I went way overboard on the sweets today, I did jump on my rebounder for the prescribed 10 minutes…and did break a sweat.
I walked 2 miles today even before reading the blog. Beautiful day in Germany today.
did 50 ketel bell swings (oops spelt ketel after ketel one vodka) and walked to woolies and back (to buy veggies) where I’d normally have driven 🙂
Not able to walk outside, but I did walk around the house and in place for 10 minutes. Kept saying “I’m doing this for Me!” I felt good about myself. Looking forward to tomorrow…….
Walked son to school this morning, there 25 mins, back 15 mins uphill!
waited until almost dark to avoid some of the heat, then walked around the block for the first time in forever! so happy to have gotten outside and not just jumped in the car.
Jumped rope, felt better after I did it, but I really dislike exercise!
I walked three miles to Leslie Sansone dvd for a total of 10,831 steps for today!
Instead of just sitting while my daughter is in ballet class I grabbed two other moms and we headed to the park to walk! I got my minutes in as well as some chat time!
I put on my Hot Pants and fast music and danced/decluttered my house for an hour and a half. Two birds with one stone!
I had a mini-trampoline set up in my living room and bounced on it. I am awaiting hip replacement surgery so am limited in my ability to walk so this seemed as if it would be a good alternative.
I did not do this today. I am waiting to late in the evening to read and I need to do this earlier in the morning.
Easy 🙂 Getting enough exercise isn’t my big issue with weight – I walk to work, I use my gym membership regularily (most of the time…) and I have a part-time job which involves being on my feet and moving around a lot. My bigger issue is with food choices, and eating too much!
Mission 2 accomplish, 30 minutes jog.
Comments below promoted me to remember that I have some Leslie Sansone DVDs. So popped in the 3-mile walk DVD and feel 100% better!
