Day 14: Get Equipped For Exercise | 30-Day Weight Loss-athon

Here we are at Day 14 of the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon.

All tasks in the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon are adapted from the 52 Weight Loss Missions program.

Read the steps first, then take 10 minutes to complete them.

Move fast, act quickly and stop over-thinking. Ready?

What You Need:

  • Pen
  • Paper
  • A shopping trip.

Step 1

On Day 13 we we tackled any actions needed to clear the way for exercising. Today let’s turn to supplies.

Let’s start by making a list of any clothes, equipment or other stuff you need for your exercise program.

Consider:

  • Workout clothes
  • Supportive sports bra
  • Appropriate shoes – eg if running, get shoes that offer running support
  • Gym/sports bag
  • Water bottle
  • Towel
  • Sport-specific equipment – eg racquets, balls, skipping rope, swimming costume, boxing gloves, etc
  • iPod
  • Gadgets – eg heart rate monitor, pedometer, etc
  • Workout diary (to track your workouts and log improvements).

Step 2

Next, either head out now to collect your supplies, or make a date in your diary for this shopping trip.

If your budget allows, I recommend you get yourself the cutest workout clothes you can find. Also consider upgrading your water bottle, iPod, and exercise accouterments if they’re old or scruffy. Let’s get every bit of motivation working for you.

  • Already have what I need, just bought new shoes on Monday. Don’t want to buy new clothes that I hope won’t fit in a few months:-)

  • Went for a brisk walk with DH this morning. He’s encouraging me so much he bought me a whole new outfit! Couldn’t believe it. I thought we were just walking to the bank and back. It was a truly wonderful surprise (and I look really great in the new clothes and boots).

  • Got everything I need. Went for a good walk today, and even down by our waterfront. It’s been a great day! I’ve also been making sure to drink more water. That’s something I don’t drink enough of.

  • Gonna go buy a skipping rope and update my iPod song list!

  • I really have everything I need, but the nice workout clothes I have are a bit unflattering at the moment! I guess THAT is the motivation I need to get exercising – so I can fit my nice stuff! 🙂

  • Have pretty much they whole deal except shoes. I need some new walking shoes, just haven’t found what I want.

  • The list of thing I want/need is long and expensive. So it my be awhile to get it all. But starting off with the most expensive item. Shoes. Hopefully other things will follow not to long after. Getting a new workout outfit is my reward for completing my diet challenge at the end of the month. I can’t wait!!!

  • Hoping to o o a specialized running store in a few weeks for some new running shoes. My feet hurt everyday and have heard that Runners Alley fits your shoes so running (well in my case a very slow jog!) is more comfortable.

  • I already have all the supplies I need, and I’m not in the financial position to buy something just because it’s cuter than what I already have, but I did leave my favorite water bottle at my workout area, so I hope that counts! My motivation comes from within ~ ~.

  • one step ahead, bought new clothing yesterday, put on jeans from last winter to go out last night and they are loose as well as really baggy in the legs, already been for my walk and weeded the front garden, just thinking about having some lunch now. gosh I feel great today!

  • I have what I need, just trying to decide if I will keep track in a diary or on my iphone.

  • I have everything I need but I did just buy a cute new excersize outfit from GAP. 🙂 It was on sale.

  • I did better being consistent with working out when I printed out a monthly calendar, pre-planned what I would do on ea. day & wrote them on my calendar, so the plan is to get back to that.
    By the way, up until today I was receiving the daily email, but didn’t get today. Was there a problem or is it just me?

  • ok, so I own sports bras, sneakers, wii, a poncho…what else do I need…oh yeah a scale (I threw out the last one during my last pregnancy 2 years ago…we had a staunch disagreement) all righty then bought a new one today…and we have started a FABULOUS relaionship hehehehe.

  • I’m excited to say that my new exercise buddy got me new water bottles for my birthday, I downloaded the Nike+GPS for my iPhone and MyPalFitness so I’m already tracking my exercising and my calorie intake. I have great shoes and comfortable workout clothes also. So I feel I can say Day 14 complete!

  • I was able to get a commitment from Hubby in the morning and a friend in the evening. I am leaning towards the colors orange and lime for one walking outfit. I already have pink shoes! My son has a purple Ipod I can use. The neighborhood will see me comin’ 🙂

  • Have everything I need, one thing I’ve always made sure I have when exercising is good sneakers. When I was 8 involved in car accident and I got head injuries which resulted in the right side of my body getting effected mostly my right leg and foot so I always make sure I have good supporting shoes when exercising.

  • I am a check list gal, so I want to get myself an agenda where I can track my weekly workouts and plan for them. I also want to use this as a food calorie and water intake tracker. I went to look once this week and couldn’t find one. I’ll go out again today to search.

  • While I didn’t go shopping for any of these things, I did go shopping for a new bathing suit yesterday, and that maybe one of those things you add as inspiration, because if that doesn’t make you want to hit the gym more often…NOTHING will.

  • Great list! I have most of the items I will need, but there are a few that I hadn’t thought of. I already have a shopping day planned for Monday, so I will add these to my list.

  • in the last few weeks I have bought a couple of new exercise clothes. all that’s left on my list is to find a decent priced one-piece for aqua zumba!

  • I am going to buy a really nice bathing suit for aquafit, mine are getting destroyed by the chlorine or are too big! I am also going to buy new shoes for walking! hmmm an iPod that would be nice too! something to think about!

  • I bought new sexy underwear! And my behind looks amazing…I feel amazing…I paraded in my new undies and was not hiding under a baggy t-shirt! More squats please!

  • Day 1, bad start for me. I laid on the couch just now to read my emails. Excited to start, I asked my daughter to bring the pen and paper to me. A guilty thought of what I had just done. Lost the opportunity of getting it for myself. Heather Sinclair

  • Hello to everyone: I’m proud of all of you for your commitment to lose weight for a healthier you. Now is the time to decide what exercise[s] you want to do. After you decide then purchase the appropriate clothes and equipment. For instance: Walking you need good walking shoes; socks; shorts or pants; top; pedometer or heart rate belt and watch. It works when your exercising. Keep up the good work and continue to post to be accountable. Good Luck.

  • I have good shoes, I have clothes that will do the job – don’t have the money for new stuff at the moment & if I can stay motivated they won’t fit for long anyway, need to find a good workout app to help track improvements though. Must do my daily physio exercises for my ankle tendonitis – tends to set me back if I am in pain before I exercise.

  • Got the clothes ready and the sneakers ready to go.

  • Already done for the present for 52 Missions. On the lookout for 6 and 8 # weights for near and farther future though and will need new workout clothes in a couple of months as mine are wearing out….. Already on the list.

  • After I filled out my calendar for the month, I took a picture of it on my phone so I can view the month at a glance. I could enter them in my phone calendar individually, but it takes too long & I don’t like that calendar much for viewing the month.
