Day 2: Move Your Body And Reframe The Sweat | 30-Day Weight Loss-athon
02
Apr
Welcome to Day 2 of the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon! Today we get physical.
In future tasks we’ll tackle a heap of barriers to exercise – some organizational, some psychological, some completely bogus – but today we’ll just pick ourselves up and get going.
I suggest you read through the steps first, then take 10 minutes to move it, move it.
We only have 10 minutes, so you need to move fast, act quickly and stop over-thinking. Just throw yourself in. Ready?
What You Need:
- Comfortable clothes
- Comfortable shoes
- An umbrella if it’s raining
- Warm clothes if it’s cold
- An iPod with some motivating tunes cued up (optional).
Note: Check The (Regular-Sized) Small Print
Step 1
We’re going to go for a walk today.
You don’t have to walk fast. You don’t have to walk for long. You don’t have to find a scenic path. You just have to keep your legs moving and your arms swinging for 10 minutes. Around the block or up and down your street is fine (don’t forget to wave to Mr Grumplestein there on his porch).
If you’d prefer an alternative, choose one of these:
- Use a piece of exercise equipment you have at home, such as an exercise bike, skipping rope or mini trampoline, for 10 minutes
- Do a little circuit: 1 minute of running on the spot, 1 minute of walking on the spot, 1 minute of jumping jacks, repeat 3 times and finish with 20 sit-ups
- Put on a high-energy playlist and dance your heart out for 10 minutes.
If you feel resistance welling up, go read one of your post-its from Day 1.
Step 2
Accept that you will probably sweat.
I know some people hate the idea of sweating, so let’s reframe it from icky to positive.
Instead of thinking of sweat as something gross, uncomfortable or unpleasant, think of it as melting fat. When you feel yourself starting to perspire, visualize that pesky poundage liquefying and oozing out of you. How awesome! Just what you want.
Step 3
Tell your family you’ll be back in 10, grab your keys or close the door to the room you’ll be in, and off you go.
Check in!
And you’re done! How does that feel?

See you tomorrow…
did more than I planned… did my 45 minutes of stretching and toning exercises plus a 10-minute walk and topped it off with some gardening.
Just got home from our walk. My little girl and I took the dog for a good walk before we bed both of them down for the night. Got in just in time, the mosquitoes are getting bad here in FL.
My young daughters ran me around the house most of the day yesterday. Does that count? 🙂 Today I’ll do better…
I walked for about 25 minutes around the neighborhood. I wanted to run out without kids, but it was good for us to enjoy the time outside. Two scootered and one was strolled. If it had just been me, I might have kept it to 10 minutes. And, my Baby Cakes told me to go faster. How’s that for motivation?
Just got back from a 20 minute walk along the golf course (no golfing involved!) It’s beautiful today, sunny and upper 60s. I saw birds and ground squirrels and thoroughly enjoyed my music. I think I could get used to this. 🙂
Feet sore from long day at work in heels. Came home and got off my feet for awhile but just came back from 12 minutes of walking before bed. I probably should have taken a coat it is only 51 degrees and windy but it was very invigorating. It really was a good walk.
I read this post after work tonight. I was so tired, I wanted to say, “Just wait and start tomorrow.” then realized that’s the kind of thinking that got me so over weight and out of shape. So I put on my shoes and started out. My ten minute walk took me 17 minutes to complete 🙂 but I did it. One day at a time I guess.
Since we were packing and preparing for a trip yesterday and traveling today, I didn’t get my walk in. But I’m proud to say I’ve been back in the 2-mile walking habit for a year, which started with a 5-mile hike with our same family members we’re visiting this week, in the same place–the Great Smoky Mountains.
Just got back from my walk. Then I dusted off my bike and took a nice bike ride to cool off. It was so hot and humid today I was sweating a minute into my walk. The bike ride was more about getting a breeze than exercise but I know it was so much better than sitting on the couch.
Okay, I had just talked myself out of exercise cause I’m running late, but I can do 10 minutes. Thanks, Michele!
I got so busy with work and a meeting last night that I totally forgot to take 10 minutes to move. I like having this check-in because it holds me accountable.
I took my walk today. My shoes were soaked and I was hot( mostly from the humidity) but it felt good to get moving outside when usually on a rainy day I just want to sit and veg and usually have a harder time getting a workout in.
3km walk – 30 mins… day 2 ticked off.
I walked 2 1/2 miles today at the Park.
Went for a walk at lunchtime. It was great to get away from the office and get some fresh air.
Out for a quick 10-15 min walk tonight before bed. I’ve been really enjoying spending more than an hour doing some sort of an activity. Today is an “off” day because I’m a little sore from yoga and roller skating yesterday!
put on the shoes and away I went for about 15 minutes in the ‘hood. Waved at neighbors I haven’t seen all winter.
I’d been planning to buy a new bike for awhile, so I did that today and took my daughter for a ride in the bike trailer!
I am on Srping Break this week. ( I am a culinary arts instructor) I have been wanting to try Curves, so I have a Apt. at 3:30 and will get a week’s trial, free.
Walked around the yard for 12 mins. Had to remind myself to keep my arms moving. 🙂
