Day 10: Detox Your Diet Supplies | 30-Day Weight Loss-athon
10
Apr
Here we are at Day 10 of the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon. We’re one-third of the way through!
All tasks in the 30-Day Weight Loss-athon are adapted from the 52 Weight Loss Missions program.
Read the steps first, then take 10 minutes to complete them.
Move fast, act quickly and stop over-thinking. Ready?
What You Need:
- A big trash bag.
Step 1
Today we want to get rid of foods that remind you of old habits and sabotage your new eating program.
First, let’s review the specific actions you chose on:
- Day 4: Tweak Your Diet
- Day 7: Count The Calories That Really Count
- Day 8: Splurge Strategically Part 1
- Day 9: Splurge Strategically Part 2.
Based on these decisions, make a list of foods you need to clean out of your life so you can stick to your diet actions.
You only need to detox your space according to the specific actions you’ve chosen. If you’re giving up desserts, then get rid of the desserts. If you’re cutting down on alcohol, then put the alcohol out of view. Make list of all the foods you will dispose of.
Step 2
Right, now let’s go around to all the areas you keep food and clean them out.
We need to detox:
- The pantry
- Your car
- Other cars you use
- Your desk drawers
- Your nightstand
- Your purse
- The basement
- Anywhere else you store food.
Take the discarded items straight outside to the trash. It’s okay – I’ll wait.
Yes, you’re wasting food. But it’s less of a waste than if it took up residence as fat on your body and disappointment in your mind. Let it go.
Step 3
If you want to detox your space of treats that other household members want to keep, what do you do? Ask them to store their treats out of the pantry or any place where you may accidentally come across them. You may have to remind them a couple of times. 🙂

I only keep food in the kitchen and even then, I usually don’t buy a lot of junky food because I don’t want to be tempted. My issue is having cash on hand. If I have cash in my wallet, then I’ll grab a Dr. Pepper on my way to where ever. Or I’ll come up with an excuse to go to the store so I can add it to my bill… I am getting better though! 🙂

I try not to keep temptations at home. I have a couple of healthier options and the desk and car are temptation free. The trick will be not to pick up junk when I go shopping later this week but nothing on my list but tons of freggies and a few things to finish out recipes so as long as I stick to my list I should be good.

Cocolate is in the freezer, chips are up high where it’ll take effort to reach them. Have to decided to go to bed at a reasonable hour and get up earlier to work somI don’t late-night snack.

don’t buy too much in snacks so there is no temptation, only healthy muesli bars for the kids lunch box, stopped taking in a packet of biscuits to work for treat once a week, missing my bicky with a cup of tea before dinner though, but bought more flavoured teas so I can cope without. oh and there is the new white port from the Easter show to ration for the rest of the winter.

Late to check in on this one. I can’t throw out the unhealthy food, it’s not mine. I have printed labels to put on stuff I shouldn’t have that say “Not for Laura” as a reminder.

Hello to everyone: Locate and toss out all that junk food that is not healthy. Replace it with fruit or healthy snacks. I know it’s hard to give up your favorite junk food but I know you can do it. Remember, your goal is for a healthier you. I’m proud of you and keep up the good work and keep posting to make yourself accountable. Good Luck.

I did this when I started the 30 day mission. I also loaded up on fresh veggies, fruit, and other healthy foods. It really helps that my husband is doing it with me, so he isn’t complaining about the lack of high calorie munchies and desserts.
I had Easter at my house….LOTS OF JUNK FOOD leftover! However, only being 5’2″, I had an easy solution (without tossing everyone’s easter candy or the hubby’s favorites), I put them in those dreaded cabinets over the fridge and stove. This way it requires actual work to get them and time to rethink what I am doing.

Sounds like I am one of the few that struggle with this. 🙂 Once I am home I will move the kids Easter baskets off the kitchen counter so I don’t grab chocolate when I walk past. (My kids are small and I don’t like them having full access to the baskets). As for other snacks I buy them things I don’t like to snack on so that helps. Just got to move the chocolate out of eye sight.
