Mission 1: Unlock Your True Motivation

There’s a reason this mission is the first one.

Without motivation, you’re unlikely to succeed at your weight-loss goal.

The best knowledge, support, tools and resources will not be enough if they’re unsupported by a strong desire to be slimmer. No matter how good my system and suggestions are, you have to implement them. I can’t do this without you.

With motivation, you will succeed.

You may not lose as much weight as someone else, or at the same speed, but you will get slimmer. It’s that simple.

The secret is to tap into your true motivation for losing weight – which is often not the reason you think you want to lose weight.

This true motivation is the source of your weight-loss success.

So let’s find it and unlock its power.

  1. Cheri says:

I want to get healthier and more fit so that I can walk around London next July (so excited for this trip!) and not slow down my family. I want to be able to walk UP the Royal Mile in Edinburgh – which right now, to me, feels like the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest. I’m 54, overweight, and suffer from fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, and bad knees. I know that losing some weight would help take some of the pressure off my knees and ankles.

  2. Kris slater says:

I want to lose weight to avoid getting any diseases when I get older and to avoid losing any mobility. I need to start now before it’s too late. I’m 48. I also want to be more energetic and be more comfortable in my body.

  3. Kim Baxley Wilson says:

I thought about this a LOT before I wrote anything down. I blogged about it (anonymously!) and finally wrote it all down in my journal this morning. I have a lot of reasons, but the one that I am most excited about is getting slimmer so that I can walk around Disney for HOURS and not have awful leg cramps all night. I remember what it was like to be in good shape. I MISS it!! Time to get back there!!

  4. Girlea says:

Three months until my 50th birthday: my motivation is that I don’t want to enter my 50s heavy, slow and out of breath. I want to feel great!!!

    • Kylie B says:

      You’re not alone there, Rute.
We’ll work on that with you and you’ll start liking what you see real soon. 🙂

  5. Tricia Tassell says:

Mission 1 completed. My true motivation which excites me may be superficial …. but the benefits of a slimmer, healthier body will be deeper and long term.

    • Kylie B says:

Congratulations on completing mission #1 Tricia!
Your true motivation is not superficial, we need to be honest with ourselves. Focus on that and you will keep you on track to your goal. 🙂

  6. Jennifer Lynn says:

I want to lose weight to be healthier because I recently beat breast cancer and I want my body to recover and be strong to fight future illness and disease!

  7. Hayley Waterhouse says:

I want to lose weight because I want my reflection to match how I feel. I always feel like I’m looking at a stranger.

  8. Ingrid says:

Mission 1 done, I really want to loose weight so I can have more confidence on myself. That is surely my main purpose of wanting it so badly.

  9. Anne9837 says:

I have gone the long way round on my journey but want to make the final destination . What brings it home is when I think I look good but see the photos afterwards – they do not lie. I wan to feel healthier, look good and be able to enjoy looking at photos of amazing trips with me in them.

  10. Terry Currie says:

    Our group responses are:
Reasons for being motivated to lose weight & exercise: Our energy level is too low to lose
weight & exercise. Should lose weight because my doctor said so
What makes us excited? Going on vacation in Hawaii or Caribbean or Jamaica or taking a Cruise you would want to exercise and diet to appear in healthier shape when you travel.
What will motivate us to lose weight? Reducing to a smaller size outfit; Look good when masturbating; Feel a quiet confidence in yourself; Be more outgoing; Stop feeling that your life is on hold.
Placed on the front of your refrigerator the photo of what you want = put your mind to it; support i.e. trainer or life coach
The idea is simply to remind yourself, every day, of the real reason why you want to
    lose weight.
I want to lose weight because: I don’t want to get Diabetes
I want to be slimmer because: I want to feel good and live a long life 100 or beyond
I want to be healthier because: I want to have my body feel good and full of energy
BENEFITS OF WEIGHT LOSS FOR A HEALTHIER YOU.
Loss of weight = self-confidence. Healthier = happier person. Improved Body
shape = feeling good about yourself. Improve your looks = personal presentation. To be more attractive = smiling. More confident, More energetic, More stamina, More cheerful. To prevent ailments: diabetic/life threatening illnesses. More outgoing = Improving your nervousness of strangers. Your life goes forward without your life being on hold. To get a good job or volunteer job = Being able to cope in the business world/a volunteer job.
Why do you want to lose weight? For a healthier body that works for you.
Visual image to aim for or the reward at the end of the 52 Missions = Certificate of
    participation
Better body shape. Lose weight to quit losing your breath = Eliminate future health risks.
Define losing your weight: For better memory and better exercise.

  11. Stacy says:

I completed this mission and am excited to begin. I love fashion and so much want to be able to buy and wear clothes that I truly enjoy and want rather than buying clothes because they are the only thing that fit me.

  12. Janelle says:

I want to be healthier because I want to feel better overall…. how I look and feel. My inspiration comes from a picture of myself and my kids from 4 years ago when I was in better shape.
